As Mistress 9 began to grow more powerful, Sailor Neptune ran towards her and used her mirror to enshroud Mugen in a dome-shaped barrier, vowing to defend the world that gave birth to her new queen.

To maintain the shield, she was unable to help Sailor Moon stop Mistress 9 from absorbing the spirits of the Inner Guardians, but showed relief when they were returned by Hotaru's brave consciousness.

Unfortunately, the shield was eventually broken by Pharaoh 90 and she fell. She was then glad to see Sailor Chibi Moon, safe and sound, attacking Mistress 9 directly. Neptune had lent her strength to the Holy Grail but was astounded when an additional Holy Grail appeared before Sailor Chibi Moon, who used it to evolve into her own Super Sailor form.

As Pharaoh 90 grew in both size and strength, she suddenly noticed the Deep Aqua Mirror glowing aqua-green. Sailor Neptune is a member of the outer scouts and starts off the series at the age of 16 and turns 17 by the end of the Stars arc. She is a talented violinist and the girlfriend of Sailor Uranus, who she is often seen with. Neptune, along with Uranus, holds one of the talismans needed to help save the world.

Due to her strange arc, Saturn appears to be much older mentally than she is physically. She also is many different heights through the series, depending on what arc the scouts are in; her canon birthday is stated to be on January 6, making her a Capricorn. Sailor Pluto is by far the oldest Sailor Scout and the guardian of time , who mostly watched over the door of time. Her gloves were white with sea-green wrist fittings.

Her shoes were lace-up loose sea-green boots. Her accessories were a gold tiara with a sea-green gem in the middle, her earrings were white studs and had some kind of planetary object surrounded by a ring dangling from them, and a sea-green choker with a sea-green gem with golden accents attached to it.

Near the end of the Infinity arc and throughout the Dream arc Sailor Neptune's uniform was slightly altered. The sea-green gem no longer had gold accents to it but instead it was embedded in a yellow star.

Her sailor collar now featured one white stripe. Her shoulder pads were nearly identical to the one in her form before but this time the last pad was more wing-like and translucent. As Eternal Sailor Neptune, her outfit is almost completely altered. The gem on her tiara is now star-shaped. Her earrings are now sea-green studs with sea-green stars dangling from them. Her choker is now v-shaped with a yellow star in the center. Her sailor collar has a single gold stripe on it.

Her brooch is now star shaped. Replacing her shoulder pads are short solid light sea-green bubble-like sleeves with sea-green bands at the end. Her gloves are heighted to be just below her bubble sleeves. A yellow star is connecting both belts in the center. That would have been just fine if they were literally any other members of the Senshi.

As the two characters whose romance was erased in the first English anime, fans were worried about what that meant.
