Believe it or not the beetle is super blue and the civic is not white. The main difference between the cars is that the beetle has projectors, so I think that really makes the difference. Kelvin is only a rating and 2k is not a huge difference. As for lifespan of an aftermarket pnp kit, the price you pay generally determines how long it will last, not necessarily the rating of the bulb.
