Teresa has all she needs to be a major force in the Gladers' quest for freedom, and yet her character is hindered from really doing anything because of the one "mistake" she made back in the Scorch. So what have we learned from Teresa? Don't mess with the protagonist. The author will forget about you and then gleefully kill you off.

But the only part I disliked was when they killed off Newt and Teresa two of my favourite characters. Newt and Teresa had always been there for Thomas, and he had a close bond to them both.

I cried when Newt and when Teresa was killed, as for Newt, I held onto the fact that he might survive the Flare, and the fact that he was screaming at Thomas to kill him, it definitely moved me. When Teresa was about to die, it just made me think about all they had gone through together and how Teresa had always sacrificed and put his life first, only to be 'rewarded' with death. Mar 18, AM. I was fine with The Death Cure. My only problem was Newt dying. Look, I know it seemed kind of obvious that he was going to die but it hurt me so much when he did. It just wasn't fair. No part of what had happened to Newt was fair. He cared mostly about others welfare and happiness than his own and I think that's the best quality a character could have. Newt definitely went to heaven. I know that for sure. For Newt to die like that, it just killed me on the inside.

I think it was a pretty good book, it's just that things people didn't like happened. May 04, PM. The book was kinda just a let down. After a great two books everyone expected some sort of amazing finally.

That just didn't happen. She dies to save her best friend. He still loves Teresa because she was his best friend before and after the maze. They then force Thomas into a gas chamber. Because the movie ends with Thomas alive and pumped full of cure-worthy blood , it leaves the door open for him to eventually return to the Flare-infected world and help cure the virus.
